WHY DETOX

For many, modern day living almost dictates a neglect of one’s general health. Highly processed foods with excessive amounts of salt, sugar, and trans fats are the new normal. Long hours sitting at desk jobs contributes to a sedentary lifestyle, where the body does not get the regular daily movement for which it was designed. Overconsumption of alcohol, coffee, and the intake of any type of drug, only adds to the strain on the body.

 

We are besieged by pollutants in our air and pesticides in our food. We rush to do more, be more, and see more.

 

For a time, many of us are able to stave off the inevitable consequences of such a lifestyle. But for most, eventually we end up feeling unhealthy, depressed, overweight, and stressed. The ability of the human body to restore and heal itself is truly astounding. Given the right conditions, amazing transformations can happen in a short period of time.

 

The Health Republic Dextox Programs, combined with daily colemas, herbal steam sessions, and healing massage give your body the time and energy to dispel toxins, revive organ health, and truly heal from the inside out.

 

Professionally designed detox programmes have been shown scientifically to help greatly with a multitude of both physical and emotional ailments.

COMPREHENSIVE DETOX PROGRAMMES

Two comprehensive detox programmes are currently available, one in duration of 5 days and the other 9 days. Both programmes include guidance and advice throughout. Programmes can also be extended to 10 days or longer. The fasting element means that there is a greatly reduced intake of calories, but thanks to the specially formulated detox drinks, plus nutritious broth and the specially formulated herbal supplements, most people rarely feel hungry during the programmes.

 

Therapeutic massage, colemas and the use of the herbal steam room all help your body to naturally rid itself of toxins which have built up over years or decades. Colemas are self-administered in newly fitted out purpose-designed private rooms, using only purified water. Hygiene and cleanliness are of the utmost importance at Health Republic.

 

DAY VISITORS OR RESIDENTIAL GUESTS

For your detox programme, you can stay right next to Health Republic in deluxe accommodation at Beach Republic. Rooms types there range from 55 Sq. M. Club Suites to Private Pool Penthouses and Villas. We also welcome Day Visitors to enrol in our Detox Programmes, or indeed use any of our other amenities.

Pre-cleansing Diet

Before you do one of our longer programmes, it is good to do some form of pre-cleansing for a minimum of 2 days. During this time, it is best to avoid all processed and fatty food, alcohol, sugar and red meat and just stick to a diet of mainly fruit and vegetables which can either be raw or cooked.

Detox Drinks

These are made with psyllium husk, bentonite clay, water and a little fruit juice of your choice.

Psyllium husk - This natural fibrous substance effectively removes residues of debris that has built up in the colon. Psyllium bulks when exposed to water so there is a large increase in the volume which stimulates movement of material through the intestine. It allows your colon to cleanse itself more easily by enhancing and promoting bowel activity.

Bentonite clay - This volcanic ash naturally binds to and eliminates toxins yet does not get absorbed itself. When taken internally it passes through the colon collecting and absorbing nonnutritive and harmful substances which are then eliminated as it is eliminated.

Colema System

A Colema is similar to but more thorough than a standard enema. A standard enema uses approximately a litre of water mixed with coffee solution whereas a colema uses as much as 18 litres of water. It therefore flushes and cleanses the colon more deeply and effectively. It is however more gentle than general colonic irrigation and is self administered.

Ampuku

This is a traditional Japanese stomach massage.

WELLNESS MANAGER - ANNABEL

Health Republic is managed by Annabel Nicholls. Most recently Annabel managed one of Thailand’s most well-known detox centers. Originally from London, she spent many years living and working in the hustle and bustle, working in the offices of many large corporations. Over time she found herself stressed and unwell. Having always been interested in health and wellbeing, a friend suggested detox through fasting and everything turned around. Her decision to move to Thailand was due to finding increased health through fasting.

 

“This form of detox improved not just my health but my overall wellbeing and made me see that I was allowed to do the things that I loved.”

 

Annabel quit her job and moved to Koh Samui where she set out to improve her own health. “For me, it was important that I lead a more relaxed lifestyle and Koh Samui gave that to me.” Eventually she found herself in a position to help others in their own efforts to become healthier. As she says “I love living a vibrant life and when I look after my health, that is how I feel. Detoxing reularly has been a major part of that. It works holistically and affects all areas of my life. Especially as I get older, it is so important”.
